Exposure

Marketing. It’s all about exposure.

For the most part, I know very little about marketing. And I don’t relish the idea of being “exposed.” But I’m trying to learn.

Over the last few months I’ve taken notes through several webinars on the subject and Saturday I attended a writer’s conference.

Changing the Culture for Christ, by inspiring, equipping and providing opportunities for Christians to communicate their faith.

A one day conference. Much information and inspiration. A full day.

I’ve been to writer’s conferences before but not for several years, and never as a published author. Even so. Intimidated. Describes my overriding emotion. A room full of writers. Those published by traditional publishing houses and those in the indie market (independently published). We sat behind the representatives from Women of Faith and the new owner. Each typing away on their laptops. Looking… oh… so professional.

Blessed to have Stacy with me, the sister in faith and Bible teaching ministry partner. She took notes. I took notes. Different topics struck us to different degrees. And we both went away with take-aways.

Carol and Stacy. Together we are Sister Talk: Faith.

Mostly I was emboldened. Reminded it’s not about me. It’s all about Him. Reminded I wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t for Him. He’s the One who inspires the words. And if that’s true. If I really believe it. Then I need to let it shine. Come out from under the basket. Whatever that looks like.

A couple of the speakers shared their struggle with rejection. criticism. counsel to quit. Yet He would speak up. Remind who it was Who called them. Not any particular influential person. But GOD Himself!

How often we diminish the impact. importance. power. of His call. He is God. Creator and Keeper of all things. Nothing is impossible for Him! Yet because of His unseen nature… His still small voice… our faith… too small… we lack confidence… because we focus on self…

Faith. Being sure of what we hope for. Certain of what we do not see! (Hebrews 11:1)

Bold faith! That’s one of my take-aways. Get confident in God.

We also found out about a couple of lovely ladies: Joy and Rosemary. They review Christian literature regularly on the Fishbowl Radio Network. Together they are Joy & Company and their show is The Review. Joy aspires to become the “Oprah” of Christian literature: When they recommend it… sales multiply abundantly…!

Joy & Company present an annual Christian literary award. The 2019 award is for books published 2017, 2018, or 2019. I happened to sit next to Joy at lunch and “boldly” told her I might have a book to submit this year. She asked. We chatted.

A bold step of exposure for me. Submitting The Heart of Bethlehem: A Twenty-Five Day Journey of Faith for the Christmas Season for consideration.

Where is He calling you to step out? seek exposure? for the ministry He’s given you?

Remember if it’s Him. And you believe it is. He is with you. Place your confidence in Him. Not yourself.

May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us — yes, establish the work of our hands.

Psalm 90:17 NIV
