Genesis 3:4-6 ESV
The first sin spawned every other sin: eating forbidden fruit. In this act of defying God’s way to life, the original two demonstrated unbelief and ingratitude, pride and ambition, recklessness and rebellion that led to murder – the death of every subsequent generation.
What God says is bad for us, we deem good because we listen to an illegitimate source of wisdom and knowledge. What seemed like a small matter of taste was, in reality, rooted in deep darkness.
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
