The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Genesis 6:5 ESV
Adam’s original sin was rooted in the desire to be lord of his own life. The definer of good and evil, right and wrong. Yet his act of rebellion against His Creator destroyed the one right thing he had: Relationship with Righteousness Himself, the Source of Life.
Spiritual death entered all people as Adam became “like God” – the one responsible for life. However, apart from the One who is Life, Light, and Righteousness, we have nothing but death, darkness, and wickedness.
We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
Isaiah 64:6 ESV

Those in Adam’s family tree inherit love for self – desiring what we think is best for us.
Look at your world today. What are the results of a wholly self-centered love and life?
