107 truths about God, the world, and you.
57: God establishes your rhythm for life.

Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Work six days and do everything you need to do. But the seventh day is a Sabbath to God, your God. Don’t do any work – not you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your servant, nor your maid, nor your animals, not even the foreign guest visiting in town.
Exodus 20:8-10 The Message
The fourth commandment of the ten gives God’s people a rhythm for life. Six days of the week we do our work, the seventh we give to God.
The seven-day week was established at Creation by God Himself. It is the pattern He followed. Before mankind rebelled, every day was a day to rest in God’s care. After sin entered the world, it became wholly unnatural…
For in six days God made Heaven, Earth, and sea, and everything in them; he rested on the seventh day. Therefore God blessed the Sabbath day; he set it apart as a holy day.
Exodus 20:11 The Message
Today consider why this command was given as a law for God’s people to follow. What does it say about God? the world? you?
