107 truths about God, the world, and you.
64: God calls you to respect authority.

“Every one of you shall revere his mother and his father, and you shall keep my Sabbaths: I am the Lord your God. …”
Leviticus 19:3 ESV
At the heart of the fifth commandment is the issue of respecting authority and its place in our lives. God is God and we are not. All authority is His to dole out as He sees fit.
For most, our first experience of a power hierarchy is at home, parent to child. Learning to respect authority, both ours and other people’s, is key to living the blessed life of a Believer.
Treat everyone you meet with dignity. Love your spiritual family. Revere God. Respect the government.
1Peter 2:17 The Message
Recognizing God as our Supreme Authority enables us to understand our place of authority and use it in a God-honoring way.
Consider your understanding of authority. Are you respecting it? or abusing it?
