The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.
Psalm 16:5-6 ESV

You must not desire someone else’s life. God gave this final commandment of the ten to His people as they learned to walk in freedom from slavery.

Upholding this law requires trust in God’s wisdom and sovereignty, His goodness and grace. A requirement for living free and staying free.

For no one is abandoned by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion because of the greatness of his unfailing love. For he does not enjoy hurting people or causing them sorrow.
Lamentations 3:31-33 NLT

Where the eighth commandment – No stealing – focuses on our actions, the tenth calls for us to be mindful of our thoughts and desires.

Where do you find yourself wanting what belongs to another?
What does this say about your view of God? what you think about Him?
How can neglecting this aspect of the law jeopardize your freedom?
