In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh was put off when you were circumcised by Christ, having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith…
Colossians 2:11-12 NIV

Jesus replaced the old sacraments of circumcision and Passover with baptism and Communion. He fulfilled the law of external works to make way for spiritual transformation.

Baptism represents complete removal of our sinful nature, and Communion confirms our trust in Jesus as the Lamb of God for salvation. Both depend on Christ’s work, not ours.

Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life…”
John 6:53-54 NIV

The spirit is more significant than the flesh (John 6:63).

When it comes to following Jesus, are you more concerned with keeping religious rules? or righteousness in Him?

Ask God for guidance in living your new life in Christ.
