“… I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” –John the Baptizer teaching about the coming Messiah.
Mark 1:8 NIV

The Greek translated as baptize means to dip repeatedly in water to wash clean. But it also means to submerge in a manner to bring about permanent change, as in the process of pickling.[1]

At the heart of baptism, we allow Jesus to wash us clean with the Holy Spirit and submerge us into a fellowship of Believers where we transform into the character of Christ.

“…But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” –Jesus
Acts 1:8 ESV

Consider your attitude toward baptism. Is your faith in the water? Or in the Spirit who leads a person to receive baptism?

Have you been baptized? If so, how are you submerging yourself into a Spirit-filled community? Are you experiencing continual baptism into the character of the Father? Son? Holy Spirit?
