Pray then like this: Our Father in heaven…
Matthew 6:9 ESV

We address God as Father in prayer, recognizing Him as Creator and Keeper of all things, but for those in Christ, the name signifies a new and intimate relationship with God through the Son.

Jesus taught His disciples to call on God as Our Father, basically saying: My Father is yours, too. As Jesus’s Father blesses Him, He blesses those who trust in His Son.

He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?
Romans 8:32 ESV

God is our Father in heaven: yours, mine, and Jesus’s.

Think about how you address God in prayer.
What is the most common title you use?
What does it reveal about your relationship with God? your belief in His love for you?

Ask Him to open your heart afresh to approach Him as your Father in heaven, your Dad who loves you. Approach Him as one in whom He sees His Son.
