101: Order your life aright, pray first for God to be glorified.
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.”
Matthew 6:9 ESV
At the top of our prayer list is seeking God’s honor and glory, for this is our primary purpose in life: Glorifying God (Truth 1).
We pray for His name to be hallowed – kept holy and honored – because sin, both ours and the world’s, hinders His exaltation on earth. Only by His grace and the power of the Holy Spirit can we even begin to rightly honor God with our lives in thought, speech, and action.
Jesus teaches His disciples to pray for the glorification of God before asking anything for themselves. It is the way to order our lives aright.
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

When you pray, Hallowed be Your name, is your desire for the glorification of God through your life? in the world?
Have you considered honoring God as your first step toward a fulfilling life (Psalm 37:4)? Ask God to reorder your heart and make His glory your highest priority.
