107 truths about God, the world, and you.
103: Praying for God’s will to be done transforms your desires.

“…your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
Matthew 6:10 ESV
Praying for God’s will to be accomplished on earth is something Jesus teaches His disciples. By asking, we acknowledge our natural bent toward rebellion (See Genesis 2-3.).
God’s ways are not the ways of human nature, and He knows it (Isaiah 55:8). Praying for His purpose and plan to be executed on earth is an exercise in seeking His grace to empower us to know, desire, and obey His will.
Asking for all to come alongside God in His plan and purpose is not only wise but compassionate. For in His sovereignty, we are either for Him or against Him.
“My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will but as you will.”
Matthew 26:39 ESV
Jesus practiced the prayer He taught. Even sinless flesh wants to avoid pain.
Are you more apt to pray for your desires to be done on earth or God’s?
Ask God to transform your heart to be more like His Son in prayer, inclination, and obedience.
